Our Back Story

Backed by UNDP Indonesia’s Innovative Financing Lab and advisory, BerdayaKrui is a Social Enterprise with current focus area in Krui of South Sumatera (a coastal tourism gem attracting 5000 surfers all over the world yearly — contributing mostly to Pesisir Barat area’s state income).

We started our iniative in April 2019. BerdayaKrui conducts activities for visitors/surfers in Krui area focuses on 3 sectors: Education, Environment, and Local Business. We have conducted dozens of English Class for students of SDN 1 Way Suluh to more than 450 pupils and growing, helping numerous local businesses (local coffee farmers, bakeries, surf-fin makers, creating jobs and transfering skills), and conducts periodically environment programs especially for beach clean-ups and plastic waste management around Krui area.

This 2020, we will be coming up with more ideas & innovation that are concrete, problem-solvings, and impactful. From Berdaya Resort, to Surf Academy, to Berdaya Purposeful Programs ©, we believe tourism is a catalyst for socioeconomic growth for rural areas in Indonesia.

BerdayaKrui mission is in alignment with the SDGs of the UN, focusing specifically for these goals: (14) Life Below Water, (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, and (4) Quality Education.
